Phlox drummondii ‘Beauty Coral Reef’

A cloud of soft coral, pink, and cream tones.

Beauty Coral Reef is a beautiful annual phlox with small flowers in a particularly soft mix of cream, peach, pink, and coral. No harsh colours, just those lovely, soft shades I love so much. I really enjoy using phlox in my creations; it makes such a beautiful filler in all kinds of floral arrangements.

The plants stay fairly compact and branch beautifully, making them lovely both in the border and in pots and planters. The delicate flowers are also a wonderful addition to small, loose summer bouquets. Plant them close together to encourage longer stems. 

Sowing

Sow indoors or in your greenhouse from February to March. Cover the seeds, as phlox prefers to germinate in the dark. I place a seed-tray insert over them (but keep an eye on them and make sure to remove it in time). 

Plant out the young plants after the last frost in a sunny spot in well-drained soil.
